MED TERRA aims to provide significant, climate-friendly, and environment-oriented solutions that have the potential to contribute to the green transition in the Mediterranean because it:
- will carry out a comprehensive assessment of the state of the art of a niche in the construction sector that has enormous potential to reduce CO2 emissions, replace the use of carbon-intensive materials (e.g., cement), and prevent waste production;
- will carry out demonstration works in 7 countries to test shared knowledge and skills on adobe buildings, monitoring the results according to an updated scientific approach, training companies, and involving local communities;
- will collect and evaluate the overall results of the project, producing a wide range of outputs (technical and regulatory guidelines, design and planning tools, ideas for promoting the supply chain) capable of supporting a wider use of techniques related to adobe, with significant energy savings compared to current standards.
- Through all these activities, it will promote appropriate follow-up and cooperation between different entities across the two shores of the Mediterranean.
