About us
The Association of Earth Cities (Associazione delle Città della Terra Cruda) was established in 2001 as an alliance among cities that recognize the value of earthen architecture and settlements as landscape components characterizing their territories, forming the basis for a sustainable development model.
The Association promotes the reuse of earth as a material within the contemporary construction industry, starting with the protection, restoration, and reuse of traditional earthen buildings, and encouraging the use of natural materials in construction to support sustainable living.
The Association adheres to the international document “Abitare la terra, per il diritto a costruire in terra cruda” (Living on Earth, for the right to build with earth), promoted in 2010 by CRATerre, the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Grenoble, and numerous institutions and figures promoting earthen architecture worldwide.
