Project title: The Cities of the Earth Itinerary

Project presentation:
The proposed cultural tourism itinerary “The Cities of the Earth” stems from the idea of networking the following interventions carried out by the municipalities:
Arbus: redevelopment of Piazza San Lussorio and the former civic market, with the creation of a tourist information point, artisan workshops and exhibition space.
Gonnosfanadiga: recovery for reuse of former orphanage to be used as arts and crafts center
Pabillonis: recovery of a raw earth building to be used as a raw and baked clay workshop
Samassi: realization of the Raw Earth Theme Park
San Gavino: recovery for the reuse of the former Pullman station and the former Mereu house to be used as a center of ancient crafts and for the enhancement of typical products including a Food and Wine Center of Excellence
Serramanna: recovery for the reuse of a raw earth building to be used as a Social Integration Pole
Serrenti: Recovery for reuse of the former slaughterhouse to be used as a Cultural Center and tourist information point.
The intangible actions of the project were coordinated by City of Raw Earth, which after selecting a tourism marketing expert and 7 appropriately trained operators to carry out the following activities:
Drafting a feasibility plan for the implementation of the cultural tourism route and defining the marketing plan
Mapping ancient earthen dwellings
Mapping of cultural heritage and local typical productions
Accession to the itinerary of the owners of the earthen houses
Meetings with cultural and tourist operators for the construction of the tourist itinerary
Territorial marketing actions: professional photo service related to the earthen houses and related creation of a traveling photo exhibition, graphic design and printing of brochures, postcards, bookmarks, ceramic sign, video contest, participation in EXPO 2015 with the thematic project “Inhabiting the land of the centenarians”
At the end of the project, the Raw Earth City Association created the project “Terraccogliente – tourist itinerary of the earthen houses” and designed the tour of the earthen houses.
